The Best of 2011?
Every year I create a playlist of the best songs of the year. I find my list becoming shorter and shorter each year. I don’t know if its the quality of music being released or just my laziness in trying to find anything new. I think it’s both. There are some songs that stand out to me from being better than the others, but besides the new Foo Fighters album, Wasting Light, Gaga’s Born this Way, and a nice comeback effort from Evanescence, it’s been a pretty forgettable year in music for me. There are some songs like Young the Giant’s “Cough Syrup” that I really like (although it was only released as a single in 2011, it was actually first released at the end of 2010.) But overall, this was a pretty sad year for music.
Thus, why I haven’t written any best of articles. What’s been good has been written about enough. I don’t have anything to add.
